description: Ages 3-5 are taking over the kitchen to combine reading and food in this 6-week series. Using stories as inspiration, learners will use fresh ingredients from the Museum's half-acre garden, The Edible Schoolyard, to create kid-friendly dishes they'll love making and eating. Each week will feature a different book and recipe:

  • Soup Day by Melissa Iwai (on the menu: Snowy Day Vegetable Soup)
  • If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff (on the menu: Pancakes: A non-traditonal recipe)
  • On Top of Spaghetti by Tom Glazer (on the menu: Spaghetti with Homemade Tomato Sauce)
  • Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss (on the menu: Garden Green Eggs & Green Smoothies)
  • Jamberry by Bruce Degen (on the menu: Popovers & Jam)
  • The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss (on the menu: Carrot Oatmeal Cookies)

drop-off:          Yes.  If you would like to stay nearby, there are a couple of seating areas inside the Museum. Should a need or emergency arise during the class, GCM staff will call you on the phone numbers provided if you are off-site.
